EMERGENCY CONTACTS

Your safety is our top priority. WWR Zone Coordinators will be on the route and will have wireless phones, but they will be assisting the volunteers in getting their exchanges set up. So due to the route being spread out and the rural and isolated nature of the WWR route , be aware that medical assistance will not be as timely as in major population areas. If anything serious does happen to someone on your team, you are strongly encouraged to take the initiative to assist your teammate. Information is provided below to direct you to the quickest assistance. Depending on your location and wireless phone coverage (spotty in some areas), it may be in your best interest to load up your injured teammate into your van and transport them to the nearest town to contact their emergency medical response organization, or to the nearest hospital. Personal preparation and planning is key.

If an emergency occurs, please:

  • Dial 911 and provide as much detailed information as possible.
  • Use the following numbers for additional assistance.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • Both vehicles must each have a wireless phone to ensure communication in any type of emergency.
  • Each team’s van must have a medical kit. It can be a home-made medical kit but should contain everything you may need in case of a minor running injury: Band-aids, gauze, cold compression pack, athletic wrap, pain medicine, scissors, antibiotic ointment.
  • Write your name, allergies, medications, illnesses and team phone number on the backs of bibs to expedite the delivery of medical care.
